Adult Ministries

Sunday School Classes 



 
Friendship Class A well established adult class which prides itself on being our longest running class.  Members are mostly older adults.  They enjoy coffee and fellowship before class.  Class lessons are usually lecture oriented. 
Crusaders Class A discussion oriented class that provides great fellowship and support for their members.
Young Adults Class A new class that covers a wide varieyt of topics. This class meets upstairs in the family life center.
Crossroads Class Topics range from contempory to traditional issues. This class meets upstairs in the family life center.
Aldersgate Class Ages vary in this class.  It's a smaller more intimate group which uses the Cokesbury Adult bible Study material.

Choirs
        If you enjoy singing or ringing, please consider becoming a part of this vital ministry.  By ministering to the congregation during the worship service, you will find a deep sense of spiritual awareness as the words and music accompany you through your week.  An added benefit is enjoying the fellowship at rehearsals!

Disciple Bible Study
        A wonderful spiritual journey in Bible Study.  Classes begin in fall and run for 34 weeks, giving a commitment that yields true Christian growth and knowledge.

United Methodist Women
        An active group of women of various ages who participate in church activities, mission work, and social fellowship.  A nursery is available for all UMW functions.  Meetings are monthly on Tuesday mornings.  A night circle is available for those working women who also need a time of fellowship and growth with other Christian women.







  United Methodist Men
        United Methodist Men (UMM) meet at 6:30 PM every second Wednesday of the month, following the 6 PM Prayer Service. A meal and fellowship is centered on a topic of interest. UMM also look for opportunities to serve the local community. Men of all ages participate and are welcome.

Mission Knitters
        Mission Knitters meet at 10 AM on the first and third Monday of the month. Group projects are donated to families in need. If interested in learning to knit or joining a new group for fun and fellowship, please come!

English as a Second Language
        ESL classes meet at 4 PM Sundays. Those wishing to improve either English or Spanish are encouraged to attend.

Youth Ministries
 
Youth Sunday School Divided into two active groups, the Senior High Class meets in an upstairs room of the Family Life Building and the Jr. High class in a downstairs room of the Youth Building. 


United Methodist Youth Fellowship
        Aurora is well known for its excellent youth program, which is open to 7th to 12th graders on Sunday nights.  Staring at 5:30 (6:00 during the summer), you can enjoy recreation and a snack supper for only one dollar!  Our program hour includes speakers, contemporary discussions, and games.  Service projects play an important role, as we reach out to others in our church and community.  Whether collecting food, serving at soup kitchens, or adopting a family during the holidays, our projects touch many lives.  Special events include lock-ins, Fall and Spring retreats, Summer Mission Trips, and other activities allowing us to share and experience our Christian lifestyle.  Visitors are always welcome!  Includes missionary work, group discussions, speakers, and retreats.


Scouts
       Cub Scout Pack 199 meets at 7 PM Thursdays from September to May. During the summer, monthly outings are planned. Boy Scout Troop 4 meets at 7 PM Wednesdays.







  Children Ministries
 
Children's Sunday School Sunday School classes are available for children ages two years through sixth grade.  Music, creative activities and mission projects enhance the program.  There is also a nursery available, staffed with caring, qualified workers. 

Aurora United Methodist Preschool
 
Mother's Day Out 
 
Providing planned opportunities for preschool children to experience playing and learning together in a Christian atmosphere while mother has her "day out".  On Wednesday and Thursdays, from 9:00am to 2:30 pm.  Available for children 6 months to 3 years of age.

Lunch Bunch        A version of Mother's Day Out geared to older children

Vacation Bible School -- A week long summer Bible adventure for children ages 3 years old to 5th grade.  The children learn Bible lessons through play, song, dance, and storytelling.  This is open to all Aurora children and the community.  It's held the last week in June from 9:00 - 12:00.  It's a great week of learning and fun!
