Aurora United Methodist Church
Associate Pastor
Simon Chigumira

I was born and raised in Zimbabwe, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Education in 1985 and a Master of Education in 1990 from the University of Zimbabwe. After receiving my call to full-time ministry, my family and I moved to Atlanta, where I studied at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, graduating with a Master of Divinity in 2004. Following graduation I served two years at Warren United Methodist Church in Lake Charles. Then, in 2006 I served one year as the Team Leader of Cooperative Parish #3, which included seven churches in Central City New Orleans. In 2007 I began serving as Aurora’s Associate Pastor.

My wife, Eunice, is the pastor at Peoples United Methodist Church in Central City, New Orleans. We were married in 1980 and have been blessed with three children: Patience (1981), Sarah (1987), and Samuel (1992). I also have two wonderful grandchildren.

My late father, Conrad Kara, was an Ordained Elder in the Zimbabwe Annual Conference and my brothers, sisters, and mother still live in Zimbabwe. My home church there is King David United Methodist Church.

In my spare time I enjoy salt water fishing.

I look forward to seeing you at Aurora!
