Contact Kathy Powers at 504-394-5483 to discuss housing needs. The UMCOR West Bank Disaster Relief Center was opened October 2, 2005 at AUMC, serving as a base of operations until December 2007. In the first year alone, over 3,000 volunteers and 72,000 hours of services were rendered. Since Katrina, over 6,000 volunteers have worked through the West Bank Disaster Relief Center to give of their time and service in assisting the New Orleans recovery effort. See the list below of those who have volunteered and become an important part of AUMC’s community.
Volunteers are still active in the recovery effort and AUMC welcomes groups to stay in the church.
